If you know me, then you know that I love watching foreign films, but who knew that I would find a really cool Turkish detective thriller on Netflix.

10 Days of a Good Man
10 Days of a Good Man is really three distinct films based on Mehmet Eroglu’s novel of the same name. The story plays out in these three films: 10 Days of a Good Man, 10 Days of a Bad Man, and finally 10 Days of a Curious Man. Each film can stand alone, but if you watch it in order, you’ll get a better understanding of how all the major characters came together to help the lead protagonist Sadik (Nejat Isler) solve crimes for the book he is writing.
The films are directed by Uluc Bayraktar with actors Nejat Isler, Esra Ronabar, Ilayda Akdogan, Senay Gurler, Riza Kocaoglu and Kadir Cermik appearing in all three movies. Ten Days of a Good Man begins with a gruesome murder. Sadik (Nejat Isler) a disbarred lawyer/ private detective/ wannabe writer is working for his former law partner, Maide (Esra Ronabar). He is hired to find Maide’s housekeeper’s son, Tevfik (Ata Artman). Assisting Sadik in his investigation is Pinar (Ilayda Akdogan) the teenage sister of Tevfik, Meral (Senay Gurler) an actress, and Fatma (Ilayda Alisan) his finance.
Sadik sees himself as a Turkish version of the famous detectives, Philip Marlowe and Columbo. His search for Tevfik brings Sadik in contact with the seedy mob boss, Sir (Erdal Yildiz) and his henchmen Huso (Kadir Cermik) and Zeynel (Riza Kocaoglu). Sir, who makes his money from human trafficking, drugs, and cars is also looking for Tevfik. Sadik is now forced to find Tevfik in ten days before Sir keeps his promise to kill everyone that Sadik loves.
Conclusion
I have always enjoyed foreign films, especially thrillers. What I absolutely loved about the 10 Days of a Good Man trilogy is that you have three separate films that allow you to get to know the main characters. Sadik might start off with a missing person’s case, but his cases are like a puzzle within a puzzle, and he ends up solving several crimes at the end of each film. But, and this is what I loved the most…the crimes from 10 Days of a Good Man are expertly carried over to the next two films.

Nejat Isler, as Sadik, is the glue that keeps the viewer hooked on what happens to him and his friends throughout all three films. Isler’s Sadik is a good man that is forced into becoming a bad man due to the betrayal of his first wife and his recent dealing with a personal tragedy, but we never see Sadik as bad. Sadik is a good man trying to find sense in an evil world. He is a survivor who finally gets to play out his dream of being a detective like his beloved Philip Marlowe.
You can watch all three films on Netflix. I binged watched all three in one day.
