Today we are very excited to share some exclusive pages from Scoop Volume 2: Buried Leads from writer Richard Ashley Hamilton and artist Pablo Andrés, and published by Maverick and Mad Cave Studios.

Here’s the logline:
Life has only gotten more complicated since Sophie exposed a paranormal conspiracy deep within Miami. But between school, a news internship, and her upcoming Quinceñera, Soph must now balance a love triangle with Milo and Usnavy — and help a disgraced celebrity find his late wife’s “real killer.”
Sophie’s existence has been… not terrible lately as she splits her days between school (where Soph remains a pariah) and her internship at WMIA 7 (where way too many media tips about paranormal activity in Miami turn out to be way too true). And in her rare free time, Sophie acts in Milo’s latest student film.
With such a whirlwind life, it’s no surprise that everyone forgets Soph’s 15th birthday. But Soph’s parents intend to make up for this mistake by throwing her a Quinceñera.
Meanwhile, a disgraced celebrity chef hears how Sophie’s been proving her father’s innocence and makes a desperate plea — he wants Sophie to help him find the “real killer” who murdered his ex-wife.
With the aid of some Alligatoids and a Mangrove Man, Soph hunts through the past… while someone else hunts her in the present. This whodunit culminates with crop circles, a dance-off, a cat-and-mouse chase through the colorful, yet treacherous, streets of the Wynwood district, where Sophie finds the “real killer” — and discovers a startling new truth about herself… one which threatens to doom her once and for all.
“One of the themes in our second book is a calling to dig deeper — to keep picking at a story until you hit the truth, even if the truth scares you. And in Buried Leads, Sophie does just that. By digging into this new murder mystery, as well as the ongoing case against her dad, she also uncovers a major piece of the secret sci-fi puzzle that’s ensnared South Florida for decades. But in true SCOOP fashion, this discovery comes at a steep personal cost,” said Richard Ashley Hamilton. “Along the way, Soph meets some new characters who are every bit as complicated and diverse as the rest of our cast and who will play crucial roles in future volumes. That said, the most exciting addition to our little SCOOP troop has to be our new artist, Pablo Andrés. Pablo’s style truly channels the allure and mystery of Miami while bringing new levels of emotion and excitement to our storytelling. I cannot thank Mad Cave enough for pairing Pablo with our colorist, Simon Robins, and our letterer, Dave Lamphear. SCOOP has never looked better!”
Scoop Volume 2: Buried Leads arrives on shelves on September 10, 2024, but you can get your first taste of it right below!
