Welcome to another instalment of What’s Going On, Biff Bam Pop’s weekly new music roundup of the latest and greatest tracks from the ever-evolving music scene. The days are starting to grow shorter and the leaves are starting to fall, but the musical output is hotter than ever. From chart-topping hits to hidden gems waiting to be discovered, this week’s selection will take you from legacy acts like U2 and The Rolling Stones to current stars like Lil Yachty and Feid, and beyond. As always, if you dig what you hear, be sure to stream and follow the artists.

U2 – This Friday, U2 kicked off their U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere show in Las Vegas. The run of shows in the brand-new state-of-the-art venue commemorates the band’s groundbreaking 1991 album, Achtung Baby. To celebrate the shows, U2 released a brand new single “Atomic City.” An homage to the ‘70s post-punk sound, “Atomic City” draws inspiration from Giorgio Moroder’s work with Blondie. The Ben Kutchins-directed video for the rocking track was shot in Downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street, the same location for the band’s classic 1987 music video for “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” We love a full-circle moment!

The Rolling Stones – After wowing listeners with “Angry,” The Rolling Stones are out now with “Sweet Sounds of Heaven.” The second single from the band’s forthcoming Hackney Diamonds album sees the rockers teaming up with Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder. Both acts have previously worked with the Stones before, with Gaga joining them on “Gimme Shelter” during their 50 & Counting tour in 2012 and Wonder performing with them on their 1972 American tour. “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” is a powerful gospel-tinged number in the vein of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Shine A Light” that’s sure to connect with hardcore Stones fans and casual listeners as well. Hackney Diamonds is due out on October 20.

Lil Yachty – One of the most dynamic artists in music today, Lil Yachty surprise dropped his new single “The Secret Recipe” with J. Cole. Keeping the competitive spirit of hip hop alive, “The Secret Recipe” features both Yachty and J. Cole rapping about the current state of the industry and taking credit for their undeniable influence on the rap game. The AMD Visuals-directed clip perfectly captures the charged-up energy of the song and drives home the expert wordplay of both rappers. You can catch Lil Yachty out on the road this fall on The Field Trip Tour in support of his divisive alternative psychedelic rock album Let’s Start Here.

John Buffalo – Musician, songwriter, and all-around creative genius John Buffalo is releasing his self-titled debut album on November 10 via State Fair Records. John is perhaps best known as journeyman musician/producer John Dufilho, who has worked with everyone from The Deathray Davies to Ben Kweller. It’s been said that innovation is born out of necessity and that definitely applies to this album. This all-electronic solo project was born out of a near-death health scare that saw Dufilho undergoing massive bypass surgery and not being able to physically handle guitars, drums, etc, during his recovery. The first taste of what listeners can expect from the album is the lead single “I Got This Know.” With it being all synthsizers and drum machines, the track has a Beck meets Tom Tom Club feel.

Feid – Eclectic Colombian artist Feid is out now with his new album MOR, No Le Temas A La Oscuridad. Perhaps his most expansive body of work to date, the album is a nod to the iconic ‘90s TV show Are You Afraid of the Dark? The theme of shining in the darkness spans throughout the album and serves as a device for the artist also known as FERXXO to step out of his comfort zone. MOR, No Le Temas A La Oscuridad pulls from a variety of sounds, exploring everything from Afrobeat, Dancehall, Reggaeton to indie and electronica. The album also features appearances from Sean Paul, Rema, Ryan Castro, and more.
