It’s Pride weekend here in Toronto and dropping just in time for the festivities is the digital version of Madonna’s new greatest hits collection FINALLY ENOUGH LOVE. 35 years ago, Madonna released her first remix album You Can Dance which featured various dance tracks from her career up until that point remixed by the great Shep Pettibone. FINALLY ENOUGH LOVE is a spiritual successor of sorts to You Can Dance. There was an additional remix collection Remixed & Revisited that dropped in 2003, but the less said about that the better. Famed producer-engineer Mike Dean (Kanye West, Bushwick Bill, Pusha T) remastered each of the remixes chosen for FINALLY ENOUGH LOVE. He sequenced them chronologically, taking you on a journey through some of the best dance tracks of Madonna’s 40-year career. The You Can Dance Remix Edit of “Into The Groove” and the David’s Radio Edit of “Deeper and Deeper” were released in the weeks before FINALLY ENOUGH LOVE dropped as a way of giving listeners a taste of what they can expect from the full project.
This 16-track streaming album is only the tip of the larger iceberg. FINALLY ENOUGH LOVE: 50 NUMBER ONES is set to be released on August 19 on streaming, as well as a digital download and on 3 CD and 6 LP sets. The expanded collection celebrates the Queen of Pop’s feat of scoring 50 #1 hits on Billboard’s Dance Club chart, a record that has yet to be matched. The entire FINALLY ENOUGH LOVE collection is the first drop since Madonna made her newsworthy return to Warner Music Group for a partnership that will see regular reissues of the trailblazing performer’s catalogue. Personally, this Madonna fan is hoping for a full set of B-sides and previously unreleased tracks, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
