It’s the Figure Friday of Wrestlmania Weekend and we are contractually obligated to sing the praises of WWE figures for this edition! We’ve got a pair of former World Champions, from a banger of a wave in WWE Elite 91. Let’s see if Mr Pay Per View Rob Van Dam and the EST of WWE Bianca Belair are tough enough to get the next push in your Fig Fed.
Recreate the in-ring action with the Superstar, Rob Van Dam! This 6-inch tall scale figure of RVD is ready for kids and collectors to play out his iconic ECW matches in his tiger stripe singlet! This figure features 25 points of articulation, additional thumbs up hands and chair, and the face sculpt is detailed with TrueFX technology to perfectly capture RVD’s expression. RVD was ahead of his time. A little Ric Flair. A little Tommy Chong. He was an arrogant stoner that made you laugh during promos and then blew you away with a Five Star Frog Splash that would give Eddie Guerrero’s a run for its money. Rob was able to transition his success from ECW to WWE, culminating in him winning the WWE Championship at ECWs One Night Stand by defeating John Cena. The sky was the limit for RVD, until a marijuana arrest and subsequent violation of the WWE’s Wellness Policy killed any momentum the star had built with the company. Though Rob would go on to have a Hall of Fame career, it was Game Over from a World Championship perspective.
RVD loved him some airbrushed singlets and a few of the more iconic ones will probably never see toy shelves (looking at you, RVD 4:20). An alternate chase RVD figure was planned for this wave, but later cancelled due to the fact the gear had the Rising Sun Japanese flag, which is viewed by both China and Korea as controversial. This figure depicts Rob in his Mr Pay Per View tiger stripe ring gear. At the end of the day, I always thought Rob’s gear was pretty formulaic. Yin yang symbol? Check. Bright colors? Check. RVD initials? Check. Skull or Dragon? Check. This figure checks all those boxes, so it gets the job done and receives bonus points for not offending anyone. Some of the paint on the back of my figure was poorly applied, so a bit of a let down from a quality standpoint.
In terms of appearance, this is a passable RVD head sculpt. The True FX scan and print application feels a touch off and the paint on the hair and beard doesn’t quite stick the landing. Some angles capture him better than others. I’m a big Rob Van Dam fan, so I can forgive some minor imperfections. Chella Toys announced a Sabu figure last year, so grab this figure now, and avoid paying markup in a few months.
Recreate the in-ring action with the EST of WWE, Bianca Belair! This 6-inch tall scale figure of the EST is ready for kids and collectors to play out her iconic match from Royal Rumble 2021! This figure features 25 points of articulation, additional hands and accessories, and the face sculpt is detailed with TrueFX technology to perfectly capture Bianca Belair’s expression. Make your collection the greatEST with this WWE Elite Collection Series 91 Bianca Belair Action Figure!
Mattel has been killing it with every single Bianca Belair figure they’ve released. It’s the polar opposite of their Bret Hart offerings. For those unaware, Bianca designs and makes her own ring gear so in a roundabout way she’s designing her own action figures as well. This gear was made famous when she won the 2021 Royal Rumble match, earning a trip to Wrestlemania in the process. This might be my favorite look of hers to date. The baby blue and comic book pop art graphics are very toyetic and are really going to pop in my display.
Where RVD was passable, this head sculpt is a shining example of how amazing TrueFx can be when executed properly. Sasha Banks has still yet to be given a head sculpt this good. That’s a crime I would love to see Mattel correct. Give me an Elite 2 Pack of Sasha vs Bianca from the Main Event of Wrestlemania 37. I have my fingers crossed that we might get one or both of those figures announced as part of the Wrestlemania Weekend reveals.
Bianca Belair heads into this weekend’s Wrestlemania match against Becky Lynch looking to avenge a squash match loss. I’m hopeful we’ll get to see the title back around the waste of The EST by the time The Granddaddy of Them All is over. She’s got all the talent in the world and has so many more stories to tell. If for no other reason to continue to design some more killer figures like this one.
Thank you, Bianca!
