WATCH: Unwrapping ‘The Art and Making of The Stand’

Today sees the publication of The Art and Making of The Stand, published by Titan Books and written by Andy Burns.

Hey, wait a second. That’s me!

Back in September of 2019, I spent some time in Vancouver on the set of Paramount+’s The Stand the streaming network’s 9-hour adaptation of Stephen King’s massive post-apocalyptic novel. It’s one I know a little about, having published This Dark Chest of Wonders: 40 Years of Stephen King’s The Stand with Cemetery Dance in 2018. I was invited to Vancouver by Josh Boone, who would direct the first and final episodes of the series, and also shape this new adaptation alongside showrunner Benjamin Cavell and a host of talented creators. Josh and I shared a vision of a beautiful hardcover book, full of behind the scenes images, storyboards, art mock-ups, and interviews. I’m really pleased to say that Titan Books helped make that vision a wonderful reality.

Along with the above, The Art and Making of The Stand also features the complete script to ‘Coda: The Circle Closes’, the final episode of the series, written by the one and only Stephen King. To have my words sharing a stage with his is an honour and privilege, and a dream I never would have considered.

On that note, thanks to everyone who supported the creation of The Art and Making of The Stand. You can see my unwrapping of my first copy below, and then go purchase your very own copy wherever you buy your books.
