It’s been a minute since Biff Bam Pop got an update on The Leftscape Podcast. 2020 has been… well… quite the year. Between presidential election madness, pandemic new reality, and some much-needed hiatus time, we put together a diverse and interesting series of shows that trace, teach, and learn about “the shape of progressive conversation.” Whether you’re a longtime listener or new to the podcast, you are cordially invited to A Leftscape New Year Chillout on Facebook Live, Tuesday, December 29 at 8pm EST.

The Leftscape is all about interviews, commentary, exploring culture, and current events
from a progressive perspective. Here are just few of the things that happened at our virtual interview desk this year: We spoke with author Susan R. Kagan about Wiccan ethics and heard some super sexy comedy by Rachel Green. We learned about anti-fascist activism from Daryle Lamont Jenkins and got inspired by Rev. Yolanda, a singer/songwriter/trans-femme genderqueer performance artist and interfaith minister. Poet, performer and provocateur Pandora Scooter read from her work-in-progress, Cognitive Dissonance or How to Speak to Woke White People. Science educator JD Stillwater expanded our minds about science as a way of finding a shift from dogma to embracing interconnection.

Our conversations (with co-hosts illustrator and composer Wendy Sheridan, theater director and teacher Mary McGinley, and recording artist and writer Robin Renée) were sometimes serious –think the Get Out the Vote effort leading up to November 3, the death of George Floyd, and what happens when it feels like the world is on fire. Sometimes we dove into pop culture fun with our takes on Mrs. America, the new Animaniacs, and the finale of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. In each episode we tackle “All the News We Can Handle” and start things off with a few laughs as we regale listeners with “Three Random Facts.”
One way or another, we will all find our ways to sum up this most bizarre of years. The Leftscape plans to do it with some relaxation and free-flowing conversation with listeners and previous show guests, some live music, maybe some games and other surprises. BYOB and snacks and take an end-of-year time out with us! We all deserve it.
