Holiday Gift Guide 2019 – ‘Adventure Time: The Complete Series’

Welcome to another year of Biff Bam Pop!’s Holiday Gift Guide, where we spend 24 days sharing with you our recommendations for what the pop culture fan in your life might enjoy as a gift.

We kick things off with one of the most gorgeous television box sets that I’ve ever come across. Considering it compiles one of the greatest television series of the past decade, it’s no surprise that Cartoon Network went all out in putting together the Adventure Time: The Complete Collection.

For those unfamiliar with the now-classic series, the Biff Bam Pop! Princess describes Adventure Time thusly:

The Princess: Finn is a normal human being. Jake is a stretchy dog. The show is about Finn and Jake going off and having adventures.

Andy Burns: Who would you say this TV show is for?

The Princess: Anybody who likes weird stuff. The Land of Ooo, where the stories take place is weird because there are creatures made of bubblegum. Another is a vampire who’d doesn’t suck blood, only the colour red.

The Princess and I eagerly watched the entire run of Adventure Time over the course of about six weeks. Every free moment we had was spent watching the series, admiring its mythology and character development.

The Adventure Time: The Complete Collection was released this past year, compiling all eleven seasons of the series over the course of twenty-two DVDs. The set comes packed in a replica of the Enchiridion, the mystical book that features heavily throughout the series.

The Princess: The packaging is awesome! The Enchiridion is the book of heroes, and its cool to have your very own copy. There’s also a pop-up in the middle of the package that is a map of the Land of Ooo.

This is a perfect way to get the entire series (so far – HBO Max has set four one hour specials for next year), with the only caveat being that you’re buying DVDs and no Blu-rays. I was a little ambivalent about how good the series would look, but I was impressed with just how strong it appears even on DVD. Credit to the creators for delivering something truly timeless.
