This past weekend saw another Toronto Comicon, and with it oodles of families and cosplayers making their way through aisles of comics, Funko Pops, Artist Alley, and more. Famous faces such as legendary Batman scribe Denny O’Neill and Buffy The Vampire Slayer‘s Emma Caulfield were on hand, both of whom have been featured here at Biff Bam Pop! over the years.
For BBP’s Princess, her big thrills are spending my money and taking pictures with cosplayers. First up were the purchases, including a now hard-to-find Starfire as the Flash Funko. Even more thrilling, though, were the LEGO Mini Figures that we picked up; various DC characters and a Sailor Moon for her, a Thanos for myself (what can I tell you, I love Thanos). I also grabbed the new hardcover Detective Comics anthology and asked Mr. O’Neill to sign it for me. I’m allowed to fanboy out, aren’t I?
Over the years, the Princess has dressed up in various outfits. She’s been a Ghostbuster and a Hufflepuff; this time out, she was decked out as her new favourite superhero, Captain Marvel. The look on her face taking pictures with the other guests was really something special.
As a dad, you hope your kids love the stuff you do, but you never want to make them love something. I’m happy to say that, while I may have introduced the Princess to all this pop culture stuff, she’s happily along for the ride. Most of the time, she has even more energy than I do to walk the aisles. But I’m glad we do get to do it together.
On that note, here are a few pictorial highlights from our Toronto Comicon experience. Now, we’re counting the days until Fan Expo arrives this August.
