Fathers Day 2018 Gift Guide Part 1 – Action Movie Heroes

This needs no introduction…but we’ll hit you with one anyway. This Sunday is Father’s Day, and the Biff Bam Pop! team is putting together a few suggestions for what the dad’s in your life might enjoy getting under the Father’S Day tree this year. Wha..you don’t have one of those??? Regardless, here’s our first batch of suggestions:

Andy Burns:

There’s no question that Bruce Willis is one of the great movie stars of our generation. While he may not be the biggest box office draw in the world these days, he is still acting in films, with audiences especially excited about the January 2019 release of Glass. Earlier this year, Willis starred in a remake of the classic Charles Bronson revenge film, Death Wish.

Father's DayDirected by horror-meister Eli Roth, the film was extremely divisive, but it managed to make back its $30 million budget. It’s now out on Blu-ray + Digital, and features a wealth of extras:

Special Features:

  • Audio Commentary w/ Eli Roth & Roger Birnbaum
  • Deleted scenes with optional commentary w/ Eli Roth & Roger Birnbaum
  • Mancow Morning Show Extended Scenes
  • Sway in the Morning Extended Scene
  • Vengeance and Vision: Directing Death Wish
  • Grindhouse Trailer

Father's Day

Go ahead, make Father’s Day, with Clint Eastwood – The Blu-ray Collection. Your dad or the special man in your life will feel lucky when he opens this box set containing eight films from the actor/director’s extensive career. The collection will provide hours of Eastwood entertainment, and includes Coogan’s Bluff, Two Mules for Sister Sara, The Beguiled, Play Misty for Me, Joe Kidd, High Plains Drifter, Breezy, and The Eiger Sanction. What makes this gift extra special is that fathers across the globe should be able to enjoy it, as the discs are region-free. I found this set on Amazon here.

Another box set that your dad might enjoy is Clint Eastwood: 20-Film Collection. If he also likes documentaries, he’s in for a treat, because there are two included with this set. There is also a small book and behind the scenes goodies, too. The discs contain A Perfect World, Dirty Harry, Every Which Way But Loose, Firefox, Gran Torino, Heartbreak Ridge, Hereafter, Invictus, J. Edgar, Letters From Iwo Jima, Magnum Force, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Pale Rider, Space Cowboys, Sudden Impact, The Gauntlet, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Trouble With the Curve, and Unforgiven. I found this set on Best Buy’s website here.

If your dad is a fan of Dirty Harry in particular, there’s a Blu-ray box set containing Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, The Enforcer, Sudden Impact, and The Dead Pool. This set is Dirty Harry: Collection. I also found this great gift idea on Amazon here.

I don’t think you can go wrong with any of these box sets. I would have purchased any of them for my own father. If your dad is a big Clint Eastwood fan like mine was, then he will love to have these films on Blu-ray in his library. There are so many movies that can be added to these collections, that dad can look forward to receiving additional titles as presents for future occasions. It’s a win-win, because dad will love the movies, and gift giving will be easy for you for a while!
