Happy Tuesday, fiends, take a fistfull of allergy meds and open your holes! We’ve got punk/metal, avant-garde punk, doom metal, metal metal, fuzz doom, and riot grrrl!
SUZISUZI
Japan’s punk/metal band SUZISUZI is releasing their sophomore album, Microphone’s Counter Attack, on May 18. The band debuted in 2016 made of members from metal band Yellow Submachine and punk band The Abnormals. SUZISUZI is pretty wild: they have lots of energy, and are totally fun. Check out the video for “Customers Rush!!” below.
Descartes a Kant
Avant-garde punk band from Guadalajara, Mexico, Descartes a Kant, have announced they will be playing this year’s Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland. The festival takes place November 7-10. Descartes a Kant was a cool discovery my editor hipped me to last week. Their album Victims of Love Propaganda is out now on Cleopatra Records. Check out the mind bending video for “Apricot Dreams.”

R.I.P.
R.I.P.’s new album Street Reaper opens with the best Saint Vitus song Saint Vitus never recorded, called “Unmarked Grave.” The album is out on Riding Easy Records and it is a fantastic, fuzzed out, throwback to the hey day of SST Records and bands like Vitus and Pentagram. You can see R.I.P. on tour this year with Electric Wizard and you can listen to whole album here.
War On Women
Baltimore’s co-ed feminist punk group War On Women dropped their album Capture The Flag last month and I’ll be damned if it isn’t one of the best punk albums I’ve heard in a while. It took me back to some of my favorite albums from the early 1990s, like 7 Year Bitch, Team Dresch, and Bikini Kill. Capture The Flag is available from Bridge Nine Records.
