The week in horror: ‘Hellraiser’, ‘The New Mutants’ + more
A new Hellraiser is on the way, The New Mutants gets delayed, and more, as we look at some of the biggest stories from the week in horror.
Hellraiser: Judgement Trailer Released
In case you missed our post earlier this week, the first trailer for Hellraiser: Judgement was released this past week, and it didn’t look half bad. There are new Cenobites on display, and a new Pinhead actor in Paul T. Taylor.
Hellraiser: Judgement hits VOD on February 13th, 2018.
The New Mutants Delayed Until 2019
Josh Boone’s The New Mutants was set to hit theaters on April 13th, 2018, but for various reasons the film has now be delayed until February 22nd, 2019. This could be in part because Fox has had to do rescheduling with the news that Gore Verbinski was no longer set to direct the long-gestating Gambit film. Other reports are coming out that, while The New Mutants tested well in screenings, the studio wants to beef up the horror aspect of the film and make it scarier. We’ll find out if that’s the case next year.
Jurassic Park Funko Pops On the Way
Just in time for the 25th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park, this year Funko will be releasing a series of Pop figures devoted to some of the film’s characters and dinosaurs. No release date as of yet, but you can check out images below.
Bryan Fuller working on The Vampire Chronicles
Having left Star Trek: Discovery and now American Gods as showrunner, this week it was revealed what Bryan Fuller will be up to next. In an interview The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Television’s Amy Powell mentioned Fuller had come on board to help get The Vampire Chronicles, based on Anne Rice’s books, going:
We bought 11 novels as part of the Vampire Chronicles initiative. Bryan Fuller is working with Anne Rice and [her son] Chris, who are writing the pilot. We are hoping he chooses to stay on and potentially showrun.
