Gwendoline Christie
GWENDOLINE CHRISTIE

Born: October 28, 1978 in Worthing, West Sussex, England, UK
Height: 6’3

Personal Quote:

“Part of the reason why I love acting is that you do hope that somehow your work will connect to people and somehow expand their consciousness.”

Did You Know?

Trained as a semi-professional gymnast as a child, but after a spine injury forced her to abandon that career, she took up acting.

SUMMARY:

Unless you’re an avid Game of Thrones fan (which I am), you may not be familiar with Gwendoline Christie. However, that’s about to change in a BIG way with her roles in the two movies that are certain to dominate the box office for the remainder of 2015 and early 2016: Christie will be portraying ‘Commander Lyme’ in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 and ‘Captain Phasma’ in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While Christie may not be the typical Hollywood prototype in terms of physical stature, her commitment to transforming herself into the role of ‘Brienne of Tarth’ in Game of Thrones has many fans eagerly anticipating her upcoming films.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Best Known For: Game of Thrones (‘Brienne of Tarth’), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (‘Commander Lyme’), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (‘Captain Phasma’)

Breakout Role (according to the masses): Game of Thrones

Breakout Role (according to Leo Craven): Game of Thrones
– Christie doesn’t have a lot of credits to her filmography yet, but she’s certainly making every single one of them count!

Box Office Status: Rising Star

Next Project to Look Out for: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (Hits theaters November 20th)

Most Famous Role: Brienne of Tarth (Unfortunately, HBO doesn’t allow Game of Thrones clips to be embedded from YouTube, so I had to settle for a Season 3 Trailer that features a few quick scenes of Brienne in action):

AWARDS:

Nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series (Saturn Award, Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films) in 2014 for “Game of Thrones”

ONE LAST THING:

The Force Awakens will most likely be the first movie to gross 3 billion dollars world wide…it’s kind of a big deal:
