Did You Know?

He is the only actor to play the role of Frank Castle/The Punisher twice: In ‘The Punisher (2004)’ and the short film ‘Dirty Laundry (2012)’.

Was Zack Snyder’s first choice for ‘Edward Blake/The Comedian’ in Watchmen, but he had to turn it down because of scheduling conflicts with Dark Country.

Was rumored to be ‘Two Face’ in The Dark Knight, but the role went to Aaron Eckhart.

SUMMARY:

Thomas Jane will probably never make it to the ‘A-List’, but he’s one of those actors that I’m always excited to see when he shows up on screen. It’s been a while since his last prominent role (‘Ray Drecker’ in the HBO Television Series Hung), but there’s a chance he might get some attention for his upcoming theatrical release, Before I Wake. I thought the trailer looked chilling, and Jane has been successful with horror movies in the past (Dreamcatcher, The Mist). Unfortunately, Before I Wake is sporting a PG-13 rating and it’s being released at the end of September on a crowded weekend that features The Intern, Hotel Transylvania 2, and The Green Inferno (which is certain to draw the horror audience since it’s rated R and directed by Eli Roth).

HIGHLIGHTS:
Best Known For: Deep Blue Sea (‘Carter Blake’), The Punisher (‘Frank Castle’ / ‘The Punisher’), and The Mist (‘David Drayton’)

Breakout Role (according to the masses): 61* (for his role as ‘Micky Mantle’ in the highly acclaimed HBO Original TV movie)

Breakout Role (according to Leo Craven): Deep Blue Sea
– I’m honestly not sure, however, that I could have actually told you who Thomas Jane was until I saw The Punisher. Afterward, I went back and watched Face/Off, Deep Blue Sea and Dreamcatcher and was like “Ohhhh….that guy. He’s great!”

Box Office Status: Cult Champion

Next Project to Look Out for: Before I Wake (In theaters September 24th)

Most Famous Scene (“The Punisher Vs. The Russian” in The Punisher):
