It was a definite upset at the box office this weekend, as a Hollywood golden boy was taken down hard by a raucous comedy. Here’s what went down:
Ride Along, staring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart, the movie did big box office business this weekend, grossing a stellar $41 million on a $25 million budget. Though it will likely take a tumble next weekend, at least for week one, it’s got bragging rights.
Find out how the rest of the weekend turned out after the jump!
Chris Pine won’t be bragging about Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, which could only deliver $17 million for its opening weekend, placing it in fourth place behind the animated The Nut Jub, which grabbed third with $20 million. Im guessing the next Star Trek flick can’t come quick enough for Pine.
As for the rest of the top five, Lone Survivor dropped to second place this weekend with $23 million, while Frozen closed things out in fifth with $11.9 million.
So, to recap, here were our predictions:
1) Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit – $28 million
2) Ride Along – $27 million
3) Lone Survivor – $23 million
4) Devil’s Due – $12.5 million
