Tron: Legacy – The sequel to the 1982 film follows Sam Flynn, the son of the Kevin Flynn (played by Jeff Bridges), dealing with his father’s disappearance. When a family friend tells Sam that he should check out the old building where Flynn’s Arcade is, Sam goes and gets transported into the Grid. The film was a modest hit at Christmas, but I’m sure it was not quite the blockbuster that Disney was hoping for. Still, the effects are very good, and for fans of the band Daft Punk, you’ll definitely want to check this film out.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader – The third installment of the film series (which is actually the fifth book of the series) picks up a year after the events of Prince Caspian. This time around, Lucy and Edmund are staying with their cousin Eustace, when they are suddenly transported back to Narnia. When they arrive in Narnia, they begin a new quest, where they are looking to find some magic swords, defeat a mysterious mist and travel on a ship known as the Dawn Treader. If they succeed in their quest, they will be able to return home. The film was considered a disappointment at the box office as it barely cleared $100 million and was the lowest grossing installment of the series by a wide margin.
Little Fockers – Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Teri Polo, Owen Wilson, Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand return and Jessica Alba joins the cast in the latest installment of the “Meet the Parents” franchise. This time Jack (played by Robert De Niro) is coming to terms with his mortality, and appoints Greg (played by Ben Stiller) as “The Godfocker” of the family, which Greg fails at being. Jack also thinks that Greg and his daughter should get a divorce because he suspects that Greg is cheating on his daughter. To add to the fun, Owen Wilson’s character returns and Jack wishes that he would end up with his daughter. The plot is a lot happier than what I’m making it out to be, and it was a moderate hit at the box office this Christmas.
