And here it is – the first trailer for the highly anticipated new X-Men film, First Class. Directed by Matthew Vaughn, this prequel takes us back to the early days of Professor Xavier and Magneto, when both were seemingly on the same side of the mutant coin.
Prequels are a tricky business and, unless they’re part of the Star Wars franchise, don’t tend to do as well as the films they’re based on, so I can’t say I’m totally optimistic about X-Men: First Class’ chances. Throw in this throughly underwhelming trailer, especially coming on the heels of the Super Bowl spots for Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor and well…let’s say there’s a lot going against this film.
