When There’s Something Strange Reach For ‘Ghostbusters: Back In Town #1’ On The Wednesday Run

What’s this? A Wednesday Run column on a Thursday morning?

What’s next? The dead rising from the grave? Human sacrifices? Mass hysteria? Cats and dogs, living together? Mass hysteria?

I know. I know. Enough already. You get it. This particular column is a little late but this morning, it’s here to save the save.

The 2021 Ghostbusters: Afterlife film seemed to come a little late as well. There are plenty of fans out there who would have wanted more of the ‘bustin adventures a long, long time ago. Still, what we got – a film set in the same universe as the Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Ernie Hudson and Harold Ramis original series – was worth the wait. Sure, it had a new cast of characters, some tied to the original Ghostbusters, but it also had a lot of heart. And that was something that made Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989) so good. It’s sequel, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is in theatres now.

Today sees the release of Ghostbusters: Back In Town #1, a new prequel comic book miniseries that bridges the gap between the Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire films – and it’s something to make you feel good!

Written by David M. Booher (Canto) and illustrated by Blue Delliqanti and published by Dark Horse Comics, the four-issue Ghostbusters: Back In Town sees the Spengler family back in New York City. With the help of original Ghostbuster, Winston Zeddemore, they’re setting up shop in the old firehouse headquarters. Ecto 1 is here. As is all the bustin’ gear. And the fire poll is ready to be slid down when needed. But are the gang ready for the malevolent force that is targeting the Ghostbusters themselves?

Fans of any age who enjoyed the  new or original series will thrill at this new adventure! The story is brisk and entertaining and the art is fun and inviting – and, along with some comedy, it’s got the frights in all the right spots.

If you need a dose of a freaky ghost then get in on the fun and make the run to your local comic book shop and pick up Ghostbusters: Back In Town #1 today!
