Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream has been a long-awaited title by many, myself included, and I have to say, with its arrival on the Switch, I’m absolutely NOT disappointed!
Tomodachi Collection, a fun life simulator exclusive to Japan, had its world debut on the 3DS in June of 2014 with Tomodachi Life, and the franchise’s pure chaos continues to draw in audiences even over a decade later.
Ever since the Nintendo Switch was released, fans have been begging for a port of the classic game. We recently had our wish granted with Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream, and I have some things to say about it.

In Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream, you can run an island full of Mii’s, and although Nintendo likes to market Mii’s as a way to add you, your friends, or your family into the games, we all know we’re just making our favourite copyrighted characters, right?
Ever since the game released on April 16th, I’ve been pouring hours upon hours into making Mii’s, fueling their relationships, and watching the crazy things they get up to.
There are, however, a few things I miss, but they’re pretty small.
First of all, the Concert Hall was a place where the Mii’s could sing their little hearts out in the form of songs that you would write them. That was one of the big things that the community missed, and I can’t help but agree wholeheartedly. I mean, just imagine Hatsune Miku singing a ballad dedicated to Jonathan Byers?
Another thing is watching your Mii’s children grow up in real time. It used to be such a special thing, seeing your little families growing together, but now it’s just a little bland. Your kids grow up immediately, so it can feel a bit pointless to even get your Mii’s relationships to the point of having kids. This doesn’t stop me, though; seeing Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers become parents was pretty cool.
All in all, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream really encourages you to harness your creativity to make anything and everything you want, and it does so well. It holds onto the chaos of the original games while adding new mechanics, and I think it was well worth the wait.
