31 Days of Horror 2025: Gilbert Speaks on ‘True Haunting’

I have met some pretty amazing people in the paranormal world, and one of them, Christopher DiCesare, is featured in a Netflix documentary series. True Haunting will have you grabbing your blanket and a bottle of Holy Water.

True Haunting

True Haunting, brought to us by James Wan (Saw, The Conjuring, Insidious), starts the spooky season with two true ghost stories. The first story, which is broken into three episodes, is “Eerie Hall,” followed by two episodes of “This House Murdered Me.” Now, I will tell you right off that “Eerie Hall” is definitely based on a true story, and I know this because I am friends with Christopher DiCesare, the Ghost Boy of Eerie Hall.

Eerie Hall

I met Christopher many years ago at a paranormal gathering. He was writing a book about his harrowing experience at SUNY Geneseo College. Since then, Chris has written several books and has appeared on many paranormal shows to talk about his experience with the frightening spirit that harassed him and his friends.

Chris was a runner and had dreams of going to the Olympics, but shortly after moving into his dorm room, strange things began to happen. At first, he thought it was someone playing a prank on him, but as the hauntings became more aggressive, Chris’s studies and health began to suffer. This spirit was also attacking Chris’s roommate and friends. A priest was called in to do an exorcism, but surprisingly, this only made matters worse. It wasn’t until Chris’s dad came to spend the weekend that a discovery was made that may explain why that spirit chose Christopher.

Update

Before I tell you about the second story, I have asked Christopher DiCesare for an interview, which he graciously accepted. That interview will be featured in a later post. Christopher DiCesare will be featured at an event that I am also working on on November 8th, the New Jersey Paraunity Expo in Woodbridge, NJ.

This House Murdered Me

While more time was given to “Eerie Hall,” the last two episodes telling the tale of a haunted house are just as spooky. “This House Murdered Me” takes place in Utah and follows a couple (former Mormons), April and Matt, and their two sons, after they purchase a house that is beyond their financial abilities and expectations. The house needs a lot of work, but as Matt begins restoration, April gets a job working nights at a place that books sex workers. The money is good, but poor Matt has to deal with the ghosts that haunt the house and terrorize the youngest child.

The haunting becomes so bad that April sends her sons to live with her mother. Having a paranormal ghost investigation group come into the house with all their equipment only makes the situation worse, and the family ends up living out of motels. It isn’t until they contact a psychic/medium that the family learns about the dark secrets of the original owner.

Conclusion

Houses have souls. Take my word for it. A house holds the energy that we mortals put out into the universe. If you are honest, you will agree that there are homes that you walk into that either make you feel safe…or hint at some secret darkness. That is why priests will do house blessings. They don’t do them so often now, but as a child, once a year, our parish priest would come and bless all the houses in the parish. As an adult, I now understand what they were doing. We humans put bad juju into the atmosphere, and you need to cleanse that anger and hate out.

I can’t wait to share my interview with Christopher DiCesare. He is a beautiful soul, and when I first met him at one of the paranormal events, I actually told him that he had angels around him. I see spirits, and those angels wanted me to know that I could trust Chris. Why did that spirit harass Chris at school? You need to watch True Haunting on Netflix to find out, but I am hoping that Chris will shed some new information in our interview.
