It’s that time again! In this week’s instalment of What’s Going On, I’ve got new tunes to soundtrack your week. From dance-floor smashes, romantic rap to seething hardcore tracks, there’s something here for everyone. Oh, and Rema just dropped a new video that’s a shot of pure joy. As always, if you dig what you hear, be sure to stream and follow these artists.

Kodak Black – Shoutout to Pompano Beach! Kodak Black links up with Chance the Rapper on his latest single “Still Get Chanel,” a soulful, lovestruck hip-hop track for the ladies, that fuses vulnerability with swagger. Over Dr. Zeus’ lush production, Kodak croons about regret and redemption, while Chance delivers smooth and reflective bars. The track arrives ahead of Kodak’s next album, Just Getting Started, dropping October 31st via Vulture Love/Capitol. More proof that the ever-controversial rapper isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Rema – Nigerian singer Rema embraces pure joy in the colourful new video for his single “Fun.” Shot in Ghana by director Perliks, the visual radiates warmth through scenes of family, music, and seaside laughter. The vibrant track produced by London and AoD is a breezy anthem for living life freely and loving loudly. It’s Rema at his most charismatic, reminding us that joy itself is a radical act.

Sarah Vanderzon – You may have missed it, but Montreal singer-songwriter Sarah Vanderzon made a striking debut this summer with “Are You With Me?” The tender and soulful track serves as the first single from her upcoming EP Fortune Teller (out October 17th via Universal Music Canada). Written as an open letter to her partner, the track captures the push and pull of love and distance with warmth and honesty, showcasing Vanderzon’s effortless vocal control and knack for heartfelt, country-inflected storytelling. Stay tuned to What’s Going On for more with Sarah Vanderzon soon!

Bloom – Sydney hardcore outfit Bloom return with “Out Of Reach,” a fierce yet very melodic new single from their forthcoming album The Light We Chase (due out October 31st via Pure Noise Records). Grappling with ambition, dissatisfaction, and self-erasure, the track pairs imagery of rot and ash with soaring clean vocals and crushing emotion, providing an evocative glimpse into the band’s most personal and unrelenting era yet.

The Bloody BeetrootsThe Bloody Beetroots unveil “I’m Not Holy,” a hauntingly melodic standout from FOREVER PART ONE, the new eight-track project marking 20 years of Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo’s electro-punk persona. Featuring genre-bending artist Grabbitz, the track blends drum-and-bass tension with alt-rock emotion, allowing Rifo to show off his softer side. Aww. Definitely a softer moment among the chaos of the new project.
