The eagerly anticipated third installment of Disney’s much-loved Tron series of films, Tron: Ares, just dropped – and there’s a whole lot of digital eye-candy to see…and hear!
After a decade and a half in the planning and production, Tron: Ares picks up where the previous Tron: Legacy (2010) film ends. Let’s take a look:
Tron: Ares stars Jared Leto as Ares, a sophisticated digital A.I. soldier that can exist in the real world at the beck and call of corporate and government interests. As always with the Tron films, there’s more than what’s revealed on the surface of things. Still, this trailer treats human senses to some pretty amazing ninety-degree motorcycle turns and dangerous looking laser discs amidst high speeds and intense imagery with vivid colours of red and blue.
Very Tron.
Jeff Bridges appears, reprising his longstanding role of Kevin Flynn from every previous Tron film. However, viewers are left wondering about the fates of Sam Flynn and Quorra, played by Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde in Tron: Legacy, as well as where Cillian Murphy might be, who cameoed as Edward Dillinger Jr. at the end of that same film. That said, actor Even Peters is here, playing Julian Dillinger in what looks to be a malevolent role.
Directed by Joachim Ronning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil),and with a can’t-wait-to-hear-it industrial rock score from Nine Inch Nails, Tron: Ares is due for release on October 10, 2025.
Do you find the trailer as fascinating as we do?
