This week’s Figure Friday is THREE YEARS in the making and, honestly, I didn’t expect it to take this long.

2025: The Year We Made Contact
Back in August of 2022, I wrote, at length, about my frustration with trying to secure the then-Walmart exclusive Transformers Cosmos figure. It was impossible to find in the USofA (luckily things are so much better here now) and toy scalpers were selling it for an extreme markup on the secondary market.
The figure was commonplace in Asia which also didn’t help with securing one at a reasonable price and then, confusingly, it began to pop up at closeout retailers back in the states. Throughout all this I remained steadfast in my belief that Hasbro loves money at that they would eventually give the figure a wide re-release.
Patience once again won the day and I was able to preorder the weird little UFO guy for the MSRP of $24.99 and I’ve to to say, he’s a damn delight. The rotund Autobot is doubly cool because in the G1 cartoon he sounded like Peter Lorre (ask your grandparents) and in the recent Transformers: EarthSpark cartoon he was voiced by “Weird Al” Yankovic (ask your parents).

There’s absolutely nothing about this toy that screams “action figure”. It’s an oddly shaped robot that turns into a flying saucer and it’s that inherent silliness that makes it great. Doubling or perhaps even tripling down on the silliness is the fact that I had to wait three years to get one. Don’t that just beat all?
Marvel Legends Round-up
Generally speaking, I’m not much of a Marvel Legends collector, but the line has been steadily increasing in quality to match their steadily increasing price tags. Recently, a couple of figures have gone up for preorder that caught my attention.
I assume everyone out there has been eagerly awaiting Tuesday night every week so we can all collectively thrill to the hot new legal drama Daredevil: Born Again? The show really hit the ground running and has been one of the better Disney+ Marvel offerings.
So OF COURSE that means we’re getting a new Daredevil action figure…in November.

This collectible 6-inch scale Marvel figure is detailed to look like the character’s appearance in Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again. Figure is fully articulated with premium design and poseable head, arms, and legs. Marvel action figure set comes with 5 accessories, including a set of alternate hands, 2 batons, and a rope dart that can be attached to for more display opportunities.
This figure appears to be a marked improvement on the previous Marvel Legends Daredevil inspired by the Netflix iteration of the show. Also, if you want to split hairs, that figure was really only based on the suit he wore at the very end of the first season. Now, where’s my “ketchup & mustard” Daredevil from She-Hulk?
Also up for preorder is the X-Force Marvel Legends Archangel Deluxe Action Figure, and while I’ve always been a fan of Angel/Archangel, the only possible way they could make him look cooler is to deck him out with a black & chrome paint job.

This collectible 6-inch scale Marvel figure is detailed to look like the character from Marvel’s X-Force comics. Archangel action figure is fully articulated with premium design and poseable head, arms, and legs. This Horseman of Apocalypse action figure set comes with 11 accessories, including 2 alternate hands, alternate head, flechette feather blades that attach to poseable wings.
I missed the last Archangel release since I already had the two prior blue & magenta-coloured figures. It was…a look, and it was very, very ’90s, but I’ll be damned if Warren Worthington III didn’t rock the hell out of it. Upon reflection, Angel may have been one of the few characters to actually benefit from the grim & gritty ’90s update. This figure is expected to hit shelves in August for $45 USD (or more! Who even knows anymore?).
