There are only five episodes in this fantastic series, Missing You, but from the first episode, I was hooked. When Detective Inspector Kat Donovan’s friends sign her up on a dating service, she not only finds her missing fiancé…but the answers to her father’s murder and the horrific details behind several missing person cases.

Missing You
Missing You is a British mystery thriller based on the novel by Harlan Coben, who also acts as executive producer. The series stars Rosalind Eleazar, Jessica Plummer, Richard Armitage, Mary Malone, Oscar Kennedy, Steve Pemberton, Lisa Faulkner, and Ashley Anthony Walters. We learn in the first episode that the father of Detective Inspector Kat Donovan (Rosalind Eleazar) was murdered, and the killer, Monte LeBurne (Marc Warren), is dying in the federal prison. Kat’s father was a police officer. We also learn that Kat’s fiancé, Josh (Ashley Waters), had mysteriously disappeared right after her father’s (Lenny Henry) murder. When Kat’s friends Aqua (Mary Malone) and Stacey (Jessica Plummer) talk Kat into joining an online dating site, Kat’s missing fiancé is on that site. When she tries to connect with Josh, the site goes dark.
Kat goes to see LeBurne in prison even though her commanding officer, Ellis Stagger (Richard Armitage), forbids her from doing so. This makes Kat suspicious, especially after LeBurne tells her a secret. While trying to find out what Stagger is hiding from her, Kat is also dealing with a missing person’s case after Brendon (Oscar Kennedy) tells Kat that his mother, Dana (Lisa Faulkner), had disappeared after having met Josh on a dating site. This is the same site used by another missing person, Rishi Magari (Rudi Dharmalingam).
If this isn’t enough to keep you glued until the final episode, Kat is also unaware that her missing cases are connected to a dog breeder (Steve Pemberton).
Conclusion
I loved this series. The script is fast-paced, so you had better pay attention because everything leads back to the night Kat’s father was killed. That part of the story was good enough to keep me interested, but the storyline concerning the missing people was the frosting on the cake. Steve Pemberton’s character, Titus, is one of the most frightening sociopaths I’ve ever seen in a series. And…just when you think that Kat has all the dirt on her dad’s death…we are hit with the biggest surprise reveal in the series.
Missing You is on Netflix, and shame on you if you don’t watch it.
