Holiday Gift Guide 2024: Jason Edmiston’s ‘Eyes Without A Face‘

Longtime readers of Biff Bam Pop! know that December is dedicated to our Holiday Gift Guide. In it, we recommend what would go well under the tree or Hanukkah Bush.

The 2024 edition of the Holiday Gift Guide will, as usual, kick off on December 1, but we’re getting things started just a little earlier. I’ll be making an appearance on The Bilal Vakani Hour on SiriusXM Canada Channel 167 next weekend, where I’ll be talking about some of the cool stuff we have lined up for the Guide. Included among everything will be a book that any pop culture aficionado will love, courtesy of one of the most notable artists working in the field today.

Since 2013 Jason Edmiston has been painting his Eyes Without A Face series. As you can see from the cover of his new hardcover book, Eyes Without A Face: Vol. 01, the concept is clear – paintings devoted to the eyes of iconic pop culture personalities. The images run the gamut from musicians and actors to creatures and sharks named Bruce.

Eyes Without A Face: Vol. 01 captures more than 400 images, from Edmiston’s starting pencils to his completed paintings. There are double-page spreads along with commentary from the artist on how certain pieces were developed. Browsing through the pages of Eyes Without A Face: Vol. 01 is like walking through a museum of hauntingly familiar eyes. They are all watching you as you watch them.

Throughout his nearly 30-year career, Edmiston has amassed a devoted following for his work. Notable names including Slash, Terrifier creator Damien Leone, and legendary SFX director Greg Nicotero share their thoughts on his work throughout the pages of Eyes Without A Face: Vol. 01.

As a fan of Jason Edmiston’s work, I’ve often thought about which Eyes Without A Face painting I’d want on my wall. Thankfully, with Eyes Without A Face: Vol. 01 I don’t have to choose.

Now I have them all, at the flip of a page.

One of the reasons we’re getting this post up now is because Eyes Without A Face: Vol. 01 is exclusively available at Jason Edmiston’s web store. Ordering this for any lover of pop culture or horror is a no-brainer, in my book.

It’s the exact sort of book our Holiday Gift Guide was made for.
