The Anime Corner: Recapping the Crunchyroll Anime Award

Hello and welcome back to The Anime Corner! I’m Anya! 

On March 2nd, the Crunchyroll Anime Awards took place with many famous guests such as Megan Thee Stallion and LiSa! In case you weren’t able to watch, we’ve compiled all the winners in this article! You can always watch the show at the end of this recap.

By far the biggest award was Anime of the Year, which’s winner was Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, created by Gege Akutami. 

The Best Continuing Series was, unsurprisingly, One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda. 

The Best New Series was Chainsaw Man, created by Tatsuki Fushimoto. 

I was very excited to hear that the winner for Best Film was my personal favourite movie ever, Suzume, created by Makoto Shinkai. 

Best Original Anime went to the wholesome comedy, Buddy Daddies, created by Yoshiyuki Asai, Vio Shimokura and Yuki Kakihara. 

Best Animation was presented to Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc, created by Koyoharu Gotouge. This is not the first time, as it has also won best animation for Mugen Train and Entertainment District. 

Best Character Designs went to Sayaka Koiso and Tadashi Hiramatsu from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

Best Director was given to Shota Goshazono for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

Best Cinematography was awarded to Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.

Best Art Direction went to Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc.  

Best Romance was given to Horimiya: The Missing Pieces, created by Daisuke Hagiwara. 

Best comedy was Spy X Family Season 1 Cour 2, created by Tatsuya Endo. 

Best Action was Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

Best Fantasy went to Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc

Best Drama was awarded to Attack on Titan Final Season the Final Chapters by Hajime Isayama. 

Best Slice of Life was Bocchi The Rock! by Aki Hamazi. 

Best Main Character went to the cheerful straw hat Monkey D Luffy from One Piece.

Best Supporting Character went to my favourite character from this anime, Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen.

“Must Protect at All Costs” character went to the little girl I just happen to share a name with, Anya Forger from Spy X Family.

Best Anime Song was awarded to the record breaking song by YOASOBI, “Idol” from Oshi No Ko.

Best Score was given to Attack on Titan Final Season the Final Chapters. 

Best Opening Sequence went to “Where Our Blue Is from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Hidden Inventory/Premature Death”. 

Best Ending Sequence joined its opening, being given to “Akari from Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Hidden Inventory/Premature Death”. 

Best Voice Artist Performance (Japanese) was awarded to Yuichi Nakamura for his performance as Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen

Best Voice Artist Performance (English) was given to Ryan Colt Levy for his performance as Denji from Chainsaw Man
