Figure Friday: Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Toy Hunt

I spent the last week touring the family around Walt Disney World in what will easily go down as one of the single greatest planning accomplishments of my life. I booked the perfect meals, navigated the parks with ease and was able to make sense enough of the Genie + service to get on every ride the family wanted to with minimal wait times. While I spent most of the week in service of my family, I still managed to squeeze in a quick toy hunt at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.

If you haven’t had the joy of experiencing Batuu for yourself, I highly recommend you make the trek at least once in your life. If you’re a fan of Star Wars, it HAS to be on your bucket list. The Imagineers at Disney truly transport you to that galaxy far, far away. It engages all of your senses allowing you to lose yourself in the most magical place on earth.

This was my second trip to Batuu and I had one item on my list I was hoping to secure. Last year Hasbro finally made a Black Series Ithorian. It wasn’t the long awaited Momaw Nadon, or Hammerhead as he’s more commonly known. Instead, it was the owner and proprietor of Batuu’s Den of Antiquities, Dok-Ondar. This figure had limited availability on ShopDisney, and I happened to miss out. Fortunately for me, Hasbro has figured out a way to get their figures to the Outer Rim so Dok-Ondar can sell mini versions of himself to wayward travelers that happen upon his establishment. Let’s find out if my souvenir budget was well spent or if I’d have been better served getting hammered on blue milk.

Star Wars Black Series Dok-Ondar

Known as the gatekeeper of the black market, mysterious Ithorian Dok-Ondar is an infamous collector who buys, sells, and trades rare and valuable relics in his Den of Antiquities in Black Spire Outpost. He has amassed an impressive collection of unique artifacts that is unrivaled in the galaxy, and is sought after for his knowledge and connections. This collectible 6-inch-scale Black Series figure features premium detail, multiple points of articulation, and four accessories.

Out of the package, Dok is already bringing the heat with a fresh, clean soft goods ensemble. Hasbro has been notorious lately with offering up vinyl clothed figures that lock the characters in a static pose forever frozen in time as a glorified statue. The articulation is pointless on some of them in all honesty. It has to be celebrated when they absolutely crush it on the soft goods as they have here. There’s still some vinyl going on but it’s unobtrusive and accents the soft goods robe below. I hope this is a sign of the direction they’re heading going forward.

In terms of accessories, we get a Clone helmet, the Sword of Khashyun (a Sith artifact that debuted in the Galaxy’s Edge comic book series), as well as both Jedi and Sith Holocrons. All of these objects can be found around Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities so to have them included here makes sense.

A lot of Black Series collectors had Dok as their Figure of the Year for 2023. I’d have a hard time arguing that. It took a long time to get to an Ithorian figure in the line. I’m glad they were able to get a nice quality offering for the first attempt. Bring on Momaw Nadon so we can continue to build out that Cantina scene!
