In the exciting world of pop-punk, where raw emotion meets irresistibly catchy melodies, two rising bands have joined forces to deliver an electrifying collaborative project with a twist. Richmond, VA’s House & Home and South Jersey’s Suntitle, two bands that are known for their raw and passionate stage performances, have come together for a joint release, aptly titled Split. This 4-track project features two songs from each band, House & Home provides “Cellophane” and “At The Bottom”, while Suntitle rounds out the project with tracks “Bad Luck” and “At Your Feet.” Split serves as a great entry point to the distinct sounds of both groups. It also embodies the spirit of camaraderie and mutual admiration that both bands have for each other. We had the pleasure of having a quick chat with members from both bands to dive into their friendship, how Split came together, and what the future holds for them in 2024.

JG: What drew you to each other?
House & Home: We just clicked as people first and foremost. Socially we were on the same wavelength off the bat. It took maybe 30 minutes for dumb inside jokes to start forming on our first tour, and after we saw one set we were all in on their band.
Suntitle: They were a band doing the same thing as us starting at the same time, and we just happened to cross paths and became best friends. Their first EP Fully Grown was something we listened to in the van on regular rotation.

JG: How did this collaboration come to be?
House & Home: Matt (Stumpf) joined Suntitle at the end of 2022, and shortly after that Joe (McGarvey) moved to Richmond, and we just got even closer as friends. It just so happened that we both had new music ready around the same time. Matt had the idea and it was barely even a conversation. Of course, everyone was down.
Suntitle: I moved to Richmond last year and Matt was playing in Suntitle already. We had some songs ready to go and were looking for an outlet when Matt came up with the idea of the split. It was a yes immediately.
JG: Now that you’ve done this joint project, can listeners expect more with you working together? And looking ahead, who would be your dream collaborations?
House & Home: More than likely! We love touring together, so there will definitely be more of that. As far as more collaborations go, we’ve never really thought super hard about it. We record our music with Will Beasley, and all of us love bands like Title Fight and Balance and Composure, so we have wondered what it would be like to get in the studio with Will Beasley and Will Yip co-producing.
Suntitle: I’m sure of it, definitely some touring for sure. And for collaboration goes just working with cool bands doing cool shit. Doesn’t matter the size just has to be cool for us to be down.
JG: What can fans expect from you next?
House & Home: We’re going to tour a lot and write a lot. Bigger tours, harder riffs, and an LP that will push us even further.
Suntitle: More loud music for dummies, and more tours.
