Trailer Time: ‘Knock at the Cabin,’ Based on the Book ‘The Cabin at the End of the World’ by Paul Tremblay

I went to see M3GAN yesterday, and I can’t say I enjoyed it much. BUT a lot of people are digging it and it made a lot of money opening weekend, which is great for horror, so who cares what I think?

One of the trailers prior to the film was Knock at the Cabin; the movie looks great, stars Dave Bautista, and is directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Here’s the thing – nowhere in the promotion for this film does it say anywhere that Knock at the Cabin is based on the fantastic novel The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay. The online horror community is pretty vocal about Tremblay not being credited, and I’ve got to say I’m on board with the hubub. The film looks unique and the screenplay is credited to Shyamalan, Steve Desmond, and Michael Sherman. Why there’s no “based on the book” credit for Paul Tremblay is beyond me.

On that note, check out the recently released trailer for Knock at the Cabin. I can’t wait to see it, and while it will no doubt have lots of M. Night Shyamalanisms throughout it, remember that the idea comes from the excellent mind of one Paul Tremblay, whose book you can buy here.
