Welcome to another entry in Biff Bam Pop!’s Holiday Gift Guide 2021. This time out, I’m joined by the talented BBP Princess to take a look at two new releases from our friends at Nintendo.

The first is Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda, and I can tell you right away the Princess has been loving playing this new/old Zelda game (make that games, as there are three on here).
Here’s a blurb on what you get:
With a retro look, legendary flourishes, and the power to save Hyrule, the Game & Watch™: The Legend of Zelda™ system is a jam-packed tribute to 35 years of the Legend of Zelda series. Adventure through three iconic classics and enjoy all-new old-school fun with this stylish handheld system.
BBP Princess: It’s me, the BBP Princess! I think that Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda is amazing! It’s so cool knowing that my favourite game (The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild) started out like this! i think anyone who likes Zelda, including people who have been there since the first game, or newer fans of Breath of The Wild like me, could really like this! Also, I’m eating Zelda mints while writing this! (they’re really good!) If you played The Legend of Zelda when it first came out 35 years ago, you’ll probably like going back in time with this Game & Watch.

Now we jump from the height of retro to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, a remastered title for the Nintendo Switch.
Here’s the official rundown on the game:
Experience the nostalgia of the Pokémon Diamond™ and Pokémon Pearl™ games in an adventure reborn on Nintendo Switch™ systems.
The original story has been faithfully reproduced, and these remakes include easy-to-understand, player-friendly conveniences of the modern Pokémon series, plus up-close-and-personal Pokémon battle scenes.
BBP Princess: Okay, I’m back! I have been playing Pokémon Brilliant Diamond nonstop for the last week, so I’m going to give you a short, spoiler-free summary.
Basically, in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond you start by choosing what your character looks like, as well as you and your friend’s (or should I say, your rival’s) names. The game begins with you waking up, and after you mom tells you to go see your friend, you two go to the lake and get attacked by Pokémon. It turns out that Professer Rowan (he’s the Pokémon professor, which my own dad didn’t know) forgot his briefcase at the lake, so you have to grab Pokémon from there and get into your first battle. After you tell Professer Rowan what you did, he tells you to challenge the gym leaders and take on the Elite Four. He then gives you a pokèdex, to log every Pokémon you catch.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond is a great game and I think, no wait, know that Shining Pearl is just as great! So you know, if you have save data from Let’s Go Pikachu or Let’s Go Eevee on the same account that you’re playing these new games on, you can get Mew! And if you have data from Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield, you can get…Jirachi!
So, between Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, there are lots of cool Nintendo exclusive games for fans. I’ll be back later with another Gift Guide entry next week to talk about some other cool Switch games.
Thanks for reading!
