Biff Bam Pop! Kids Presents In The Game: Super Mario 3D All-Stars

I don’t need any help feeling old, but it certainly doesn’t help when pop culture icons like Nintendo’s Mario are celebrating significant anniversaries. In this case, the favourite plumber of gamers everywhere is celebrating 35 years of having his own franchise.

To commemorate the milestone, Nintendo just released Super Mario 3D All-Stars for the Switch. It’s a remastered compilation of three beloved games – Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, the first of which I spent time trying to conquer on the Nintendo 64 back in the 1990s.

Again, thanks for the reminder of how old I am, Mario!

As always, when there are new Nintendo Switch games to try out, I turn things over to our Biff Bam Pop! Princess, she who earlier this year defeated Super Mario Odyssey, an accomplishment I myself have yet to achieve.

Andy Burns: So, there’s a new old Super Mario game out now? Tell me about it.

BBP Princess: It’s a mix of Super Mario Galaxy, Sunshine and 64.

Andy Burns: Had you ever heard of these games before?

BBP Princess: Yes! I googled Mario before it came out and it gave a list of these games.

Andy Burns: You know, I used to play Super Mario 64 when I was a kid. Well, I was a bigger kid. What do you think of it?

Andy Burns: Woah, that’s a major response. Why is it so awesome? Why do you like it?

BBP Princess: It’s like Super Mario Odyssey. It’s a quest game and and adventure. I like games like that. I beat Mario Odyssey, you know.

Andy Burns: Yes, I’d heard that. Now, the other two games, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Sunshine I haven’t played before. What do you think of them?

BBP Princess: Sunshine is ok. I LOVE Galaxy. In that game you collect power stars because Princess Rosalina uses power stars to power the stars.

Andy Burns: Tell me what you think of the graphics for all these games? To me, they do look older. How about to you? Do the games feel old?

BBP Princess: The games don’t feel old but the graphics do look old. But that doesn’t matter, the games are still fun to play.

Andy Burns: Ok, so finally, should people who have the Nintendo Switch get Super Mario 3D All-Stars? And if so, why?

BBP Princess: Yes, they should! Because it’s cool, it’s a mix of three games in one, and it’s MARIO! Kids my age will like it.

Thanks to the Princess for her thoughts and to Nintendo for sharing a copy of Super Mario 3D All-Stars for us to review! You can order your copy here.
