This week saw the release of Trolls: World Tour on 4K and Blu-ray. You might recall that the sequel to the huge 2016 film starring the voices of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake was supposed to hit theatres in the spring. However, because of Coivd-19, Universal made the decision to send the film straight to Video On Demand platforms for a premium rental price. The strategy worked brilliantly. Families were eager to watch something uplifting, and Trolls: World Tour wound up making a rumoured $95 million from rentals alone.
Rentals are limited though, so no doubt families are going to want to own the next story of Branch, Poppy and their Troll brothers and sisters. Trolls: World Tour looks absolutely outstanding on 4K, and the new release comes with a host of extras (all of which can actually be found on the 4K disc, something unusual for the format, but extremely welcome). The Blu-ray also comes packed with all the extras as well, along with a digital copy of the film. The voice work and animation are solid, as you’d expect.
