Biff Bam Pop’s 2018 Holiday Gift Guide: Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu + Poke Ball Plus

Welcome to another year of the Biff Bam Pop! Holiday Gift Guide, where the writers of BBP share our recommendations for the pop culture loves in your life. This year saw the launch of Biff Bam Pop! Kids, which features the Princess unboxing and raving about some of her favourite things, so we thought we would kick things off with the video game she was looking forward to for months and months.

Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu/Let’s Go Evee is a Nintendo Switch exclusive that puts your right in the world of Pokémon (obviously). In this game, “you play as your own character,” says The Princess. She created a girl that looks amazingly like herself.

“You go around catching Pokémon like crazy,” she continues. “It’s not only catching Pokémon, though. It wouldn’t be Pokémon without battles. Another trainer comes running up to you with an exclamation mark over their heads. Then, they say a little phrase and then your get into a battle. They throw out a Pokémon, you throw out a Pokémon, and whoever knocks out the other person’s Pokémon wins.”

The trainer has a bag and a clothing trunk, “and you can change the clothes of your Pikachu/Evee, and you can also change the clothes of your own character. As well, your Pokémon’s learn moves by levelling up.”

Look, I don’t know what any of this means, but the Princess seems to really enjoy the game, especially playing the Poke Ball Plus. What’s that, you ask?

”The Poke Ball Plus is a controller in the shape of a Pokeball,” says the Princess. “It makes it easier to play, it’s like you’re catching a real Pokémon. You aim and make a throwing motion to catch what’s in front of you. It’s pretty neat. You also get a free Mew (it’s a legendary Pokémon) with the Poke Ball Plus.”

When asked if she thought Let’s Go Pikachu/Evee would be a good present for people with a Nintendo Switch, the Princess said, “Yes, because it’s so fun!”

You can order Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachui/Evee and the Poke Ball Plus here. It’s definitely a good time for Switch fans.
