The short-lived television series, Hannibal, has spawned one of the more active fandoms in recent memory. This weekend, devotees of the show, who refer to themselves as Fannibals, will converge upon the unsuspecting city of Toronto for Fannibal Fest 2018. Special guests are scheduled to include Scott Thompson (The Kids in the Hall) and director Vincenzo Natali (Splice).
Natali will be presenting the episodes of Hannibal he directed in a special event the night of Friday, October 12. You do not have to attend the entire convention to attend, and special pricing is available for film students. Natali will be providing running commentary, including behind-the-scenes stories and a glimpse into the filmmaking thought process. Also appearing that evening will be editor Michael Doherty.
Fans of the show will have the opportunity to attend to two Q&A sessions with Team Sassy Science, consisting of Hettienne Park, Aaron Abrams, and Scott Thompson. Food stylist Janice Poon will be hosting an exclusive Eat the Rude Dinner Saturday night. There will also be games, fan panels, and talks with some of the creative people who worked on the show.
Fannibal Fest 2018 will be held at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel. Other accomodations may be found at the Holiday Inn Toronto Airport. For more information, visit www.fannibalfest.com.
