The Week In Horror: Dee Wallace Goes to Hell, RIP Debbie Lee Carrington + More

As we’ve all learned recently, Rob Zombie’s next film, 3 From Hell, will be a continuation of the Firefly family saga which began with 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses and 2005’s The Devil’s Rejects. The other great news about 3 From Hell that dropped this week is that Zombie has cast legendary horror actress Dee Wallace to appear! Wallace has appeared in The Hills Have Eyes, Cujo, ET, Critters, Red Christmas, The House of the Devil, and Death House. She also worked with Zombie on his remake of Halloween, The Haunted World of El Super Beasto, and Lords of Salem.

Actress and stuntwoman Debbie Lee Carrington has passed away at 58. She appeared in Total Recall and Batman Returns and did stunt work in Bride of Chucky, New Nightmare, Spawn, and Van Helsing. No word yet on what caused her death.

Another bit of sad news – Commander USA himself, Jim Hendricks, passed away at home on St Patrick’s Day. He played Commander USA, the host of Commander USA’s Groovy Movies on the USA network in the 1980s. I find this particularly sad personally as the Commander’s great show was one of my biggest gateways into horror. It was a Saturday afternoon ritual to be in front of the TV.

There’s been some news on the Friday the 13th >front. In an interview with Arrow, producer Andrew Form revealed that there’s no news as the rights are up in the air and the screenwriter of the original Friday Victor Miller, has a lawsuit that’s holding everything up. So, don’t get your hopes up for any new hijinks out of Jason Voorhees in the near future. In the meantime, play Friday the 13th the Game, Mortal Kombat X, or check out Womp Stomp Film’s excellent Never Hike Alone to get your Jason fix.
