Biff Bam Pop’s Favourite Couples – Coach Eric Taylor & Tami Taylor

There has never been a show I have campaigned for more than Friday Night Lights.  On the surface, the show is about a small town (Dillon, Texas) and a football team but in reality, it is SO MUCH MORE!

The central characters of the show are Coach Eric Taylor and Tami Taylor, played by the amazing Emmy-award winning Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton. The marriage these two portrayed for five seasons will very likely be the legacy of Friday Night Lights.  Alan Sepinwall from HitFix said it perfectly, “Friday Night Lights has always been the story of a football team and its coach, but it’s also been the story of a marriage – one of the most well-rounded, admirable, memorable marriages ever portrayed on television.”

The best thing about the Taylors is that they aren’t annoyingly perfect.  They have arguments and problems like everyone else, but they never lose respect for each other and they always talk about their problems. It’s refreshing to see a married couple on television who argues about parenting and the future of their relationship but their arguments never end in someone turning to infidelity or drugs or alcoholism or divorce.

Eric and Tami have been married for 18 years and they are still madly in love with one another!  These are two people in their forties who are still so hot for each other, interested in each others lives, communicative, respectful and loving.  Their chemistry is undeniable and if you watch the series you will fall in love with them as individuals and with their relationship. A writer for the LA Times said “Where other TV series tend to focus either on the bickering or the saccharine, “Friday Night Lights” has thrived on nuance, creating domestic moments that simultaneously reflect adoration and frustration; tenderness and sarcasm; respect and fatigue.”

Seriously, you guys… if you haven’t watched this show yet please make it your number one priority.  The entire series of Friday Night Lights is now available on DVD and it’s worth every penny.  On top of this captivating relationship there are so many other reasons to watch this show including the incredible acting, writing, cinematography, music, and compelling drama.
