The controller is the gamers’ most important weapon. Finding a controller for your system that you LOVE often takes some serious gamers out of the realm of the stock options that are shipped with their systems. It becomes equally difficult if you own multiple systems, and prefer the layout of one controller over the other. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a controller that emulated both distinct layouts? (Hint: There is.)
When I first heard about the MLG Pro Controller, I figured it was simply a branded controller that wouldn’t surpass the quality of the other generic after-market controllers that have already flooded the market. But after a closer look, this thing looks great! Why, you ask? Well first of all it can be used in either the PS3 or XBox 360 layout! The controller d-pad, face buttons and control sticks can be swapped to quickly configure to either the XBox 360 or Playstation 3 set-ups. They can also be put into any combination that you like, making it the most customizable controller on the market.
Speaking of customization, if you’re a gamer that plays with a clan or group, you can basically mod this unit to match any look that you like! As their website says, “Easily swappable, magnetic top and side faceplates attach securely to the controller, allowing individuals or clans to skin their controller for personal preference or to match team colors. Provided in both matte and glossy finishes, you have a choice in styles right out of the box. Additional faceplate kits deliver the unique opportunity to customize your controller’s overall appearance so you can truly call it your own.”
The heavy-duty braided cable connects to the controller by a screw-on attachment which keeps it secure, and the rubberized grips keep it in your hands and comfortable during those long gaming sessions.
Overall, this is a controller that has to be used to be appreciated, and at $104.99, it does seem a little steep. But when you figure that you’re getting a controller that is durable, fully customizable and can work with BOTH Xbox and PS3 configurations, it really isn’t that much after all!
