Casino Jack – Kevin Spacey stars in this film which is based on the true story of lobbyist Jack Abramoff. The film follows the rise and fall of Abramoff, who was involved in a corruption scandal that led to Abramoff and many others with political influence doing time in prison for fraud, tax evasion, conspiracy and trading gifts for political favours and influence. Spacey was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy at this year’s Golden Globe Awards. Dinoshark – This film is much in the same vain of another SyFy made for TV film in Sharktopus. This time a dinoshark swims away from a broken chunk of a glacier and ends up in Puerto Vallarta where he goes on a killing rampage. Unfortunately, no one believes a creature like this exists until the body count piles up. It’s definitely the film of the week with the best title.

3 Idiots – This acclaimed film is about three friends who make a bet to see who will be the most successful amongst them. The friends fall out of touch and after ten years, two of the friends go on a quest to find the third friend to see what he has done with his life. This film was a massive hit in India, where it shattered box office records.

Sniper Reloaded – This direct to DVD sequel stars Billy Zane (who was in the original) and Chad Michael Collins who plays the son of Tom Berenger’s character from the original. The son is sent on a mission in the Congo to retrieve a European farmer, but when they arrive, all of his men are killed by a sniper. He escapes but wants revenge on the sniper but in wanting his revenge, he finds out that everyone is not who they appear to be and that he cannot trust anyone.

The Scent of Green Papaya – This film was released in 1993 and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 66th Academy Awards. The film follows a woman named Mui. She has grown up on hard times and ends up becoming a servant for a pianist. Mui and the pianist strike up a relationship but cannot act on it as the pianist is engaged to be married, even though the man prefers to play the piano over spending time with his fiancée. The pianist will have to choose one woman over the other and his decision will affect them all.
