DVD Tuesday with Scotty G

Date Night – Steve Carell and Tina Fey star in this comedy about a couple who get their first night away from the kids and try to have a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant. When they can’t get a table, they decide to take someone else’s reservations which leads to disastrous results, as the people that they steal the reservation from are being hunted by a mobster. Carell and Fey have great chemistry, and I thought the film should have been a bigger hit than it was at the box office.

Death at a Funeral – This film stars Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, Danny Glover, Zoe Saldana, James Marsden and Peter Dinklage and is about the chaotic day a family has as they pay their final respects to their father. The is a remake of a British film, and the trailer has a great madcap, zany vibe to it. Unfortunately, it failed to find an audience at the box office. I think with the names involved, it will find a bigger audience on DVD.

The Jone$ – David Duchovny and Demi Moore star in this comedy-drama about a family who move into a neighbourhood and become friends with most everyone in the community. Unfortunately, it is all a fraud as the family is really part of a marketing company designed to get the neighbours to buy luxury products.

My Name is Khan – This Bollywood drama follows the life of a family in Mumbai, who then live in the United States, and have to deal with the racism in a post 9-11 world. When a tragedy happens to the family, the man goes on a quest to meet the President of the United States to clear his name.

TV ON DVD

Max Headroom: The Complete Series – The famous TV series finally sees the light of day on DVD. The show is set in the future where the TV networks run the world. A TV reporter comes across a disturbing secret about a new technology that has the ability to overload humans’ senses and cause them to explode. The series only lasted 14 episodes, but has remained a pop culture staple throughout the years.

Numb3rs: The Final Season – The 6th and final season of the show follows the adventures of FBI Special Agent Don Eppes (played by Rob Morrow) and his mathematically gifted brother Charlie (played by David Krumholtz) who help solve major crimes for the FBI.

Trauma: Season One – The first (and last) season of the show follows a group of paramedics in San Francisco. The series starts out with the San Francisco Fire Department responding to an electrocution on a rooftop. During the rescue, the helicopter that is transporting the victim crashes, killing everyone except the pilot. A year later, the pilot of the chopper deals with the scars of that day.
