Is this really necessary?
I think that’s a question so many folks have been asking since the announcement of the Harry Potter television series for HBO Max. The books exist, alongside a fine set of films that have become beloved touchstones for multiple generations.
But here we are. The first trailer for the new show has arrived, setting the stage for a series that, in theory, will run seven seasons and cover all the books in as much detail as possible. Will people watch? I’d think so, even those who are dead set against She Who Won’t Be Named. But then again…is this really necessary?
