Finally…October. I’d be a bit more enthused by that if my country wasn’t on the express train to hell at the moment. But, I guess that’s scary, right? Halloween? Woo? Every day brings new horrors, yes, and I hope you’re doing your part to be on the right side of history. Be there for the people who need you because no one else is coming to help you these days.

Anyways, toys…Halloween toys. I’ve been sitting on this topic for at least a month now, hoping that Josh wouldn’t beat me to the punch in covering these. So, let’s get after it.
Garfield’s Halloween Adventure Pirate Garfield and Pirate Odie Figure Two-Pack by Boss Fight Studio

We’ll start with the blurb and go from there…
One of Garfield’s most memorable stories is the one-two punch of the 1985 television special and comic Garfield’s Halloween Adventure. Boss Fight Studio is celebrating the 40th anniversary of this hilarious and spooky outing with a special action figure 2pk! Pirate Garfield has 25 points of articulation, a treat sack, wooden sword, pirate hat, interchangeable peg-leg and alternate expression. Pirate Odie has 13 points of articulation, treat sack, interchangeable peg-leg and alternate expression.
Longtime readers will know that a tried and true bit of mine is bemoaning the passage of time, and this column will be no exception. How DARE Garfield’s Halloween Adventure turn 40? Something that old should have been lost to the mists of time long ago, and not something that I still have very clear memories of. My father was almost a full decade younger than I am now when this first aired! This was the talk of my grade school the day after it premiered! It’s been an annual household tradition of mine for four decades now, goddamnit!
Anyways, I’m old. I’m starting to get Doctor Strange/Reed Richards/Earth-2 Superman hair and I was thinking about remodeling my bathroom today. Like, seriously thinking about it.
Garfield’s Halloween Adventure is a certified classic. It’s never achieved the heights of It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Apple never put it behind the walled garden of their exclusive streaming service, but at the very least, it deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as other Halloween classics. Admittedly, I do not know what’s happening on broadcast or even cable TV these days, but I feel like this special stopped airing on TV around the time it hit DVD.

As I mentioned above, it’s an annual tradition for my family. Why, just today my dad and I were discussing that it was nearly time to break out the DVD of it (we both have our own copies). If you’re so inclined, there’s a DVD that collects the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas specials so you can have a solid, three-month run of Garfield specials at your disposal.
When Boss Fight Studio announced they were doing these figures, there was no way for me to resist preordering them. They’re absolutely perfect, and my only complaint is that they won’t be out by the end of the month. They’re slated to release the second quarter of 2026, and they appear to be well worth waiting for.
Boss Fight could have easily produced single versions of each character’s unique looks throughout the special and churned out multiple figures (Garfield with peg leg, Garfield without peg leg, etc), but instead opted to produce and attractively priced two-pack ($45 USD!!!) with multiple accessories to mix and match. It’s truly the figures this Halloween special deserves to commemorate its 40th anniversary.
