Kickstart This! Exclusive Interview: Toy DNA’s Phil Ramizez, Adam Van Wickler and Jesse Falcon Talk The Cursed Dead

The Cursed Dead Kickstarter is live through February 1, 2025. I had the opportunity to talk about the project with the creative team at Toy DNA: Phil Ramirez and Adam Van Wickler along with their biggest cheerleader Jesse Falcon.

In this conversation we talk about each of the figures in Wave 1, the lore and inspiration for the characters as well as where they hope to take the line in the future. We also discuss the freedom of creating for yourself and the challenges of putting their reputations on the line for the sake of making their own figures. It’s a great peek behind the curtain with industry veterans applying their expertise to a product that they have compete control over.

As a reminder, you aren’t charged until the project successfully funds on February 1, 2025. You can also edit your order between now and then if you decide to add additional figures to your pledge. The sooner they reach their goal, the sooner we get to those stretch goals and Daddy needs a Mangler, Y’all!

Phil Ramirez started sculpting toys on the original Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line and became Legendary for sculpting roughly 40% of the ToyBiz Marvel Legends line which arguably set the standard for the way figures are designed today.

Adam Van Wickler has been Director – Creative Services at Gentle Giant Studios for nearly 20 years. His team collaborates with companies like Mattel by providing the 3D headscans that bring your favorite WWE Superstars into figure form.

Jesse Falcon has been the Director of Merchandising with Marvel Entertainment since 1994. He oversees the Marvel business sold through Disney. He was pivotal in the creation of both the Marvel Legends line and the original Lord of the Rings line with ToyBiz.
