Rounding out his trilogy of films that started with 2022’s X and it’s prequel, Pearl, the prolific director whisks us off that creepy farm for the neon lights of 1980’s Hollywood with MaXXXine.
Mia Goth’s Maxine Minx finally gets her big chance at stardom and to break through from the adult industry to mainstream cinema. But a mysterious and merciless serial killer is hunting Hollywood’s starlets, and an investigation may lead to places that Maxine doesn’t want uncovered.
The 80’s vibes are extremely strong in the new trailer, and given the wildly different styles of both X and Pearl, I can’t wait to see what MaXXXine looks, feels, and sounds like.
Alongside Goth, MaXXXine stars Elizabeth Debicki, Lily Collins, Halsey, Bobby Cannavale, Michelle Monaghan, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon.
MaXXXine comes to theatres on July 5, 2024 from A24. For a preview of the film, X will have a one-night limited return to theatres in the US on June 18 with bonus footage from MaXXXine after the credits.
