This week’s Figure Friday research has been one of the strangest rabbit holes I’ve ever gone down, but I do it in service of you, Dear Reader! My socials have been flooded with blue feet pics ever since Mondo announced their 1/6 Scale Orko figure from their Masters of the Universe line. Why would I keep that all to myself when you can all share in this thing I can’t unsee?

From Mondo’s Site:
Our Orko 1/6 Scale Figure comes complete with a scepter and fabric robe as well as a slew of swappable hands and portraits, including the never-before-produced unmasked Orko. The figure also provides a first glimpse at Orko’s legs! (Yes, Orko has legs.)
As an added bonus, in addition to the main figure, our deluxe Timed Edition features Orko Classic and Dree Elle mini figures and stands, plus Orko’s playmate Daimar the Demon.
Orko is one of my favorite Masters. As a kid, I loved the toy with the ripcord that you could pull to rev a little motor inside which made Orko appear to float around. The character was always a bit goofy on the show, but in the subsequent versions of Masters Orko has gotten a bit more backbone. I tend to like my Orko a bit in the middle which is why this Mondo release is hitting all the right notes with me.

Atop his display stand Orko checks in at 6.5 inches tall, making him the perfect size to float next to the rest of the 1/6 scale Masters. Mondo has done a nice job adding detail to the relatively plain red robe with black “O”. The soft goods appear to be very nicely done and do a great job of concealing the previously mentioned blue feet.

This is the first time we’ve seen what’s going on underneath Orko’s robes and quite frankly, it’s terrifying. Never in all of my days have I let the thought of what was under Orko’s robe cross my mind. Yet here we are in this brave new world. If the atrophied legs aren’t scary enough, we get three toes that haven’t had a pedicure in quite some time. This is also the first time we’ve seen Orko’s face. Not the first time we’ve seen a Trollan’s face. That honor goes to Wokrapanwooki, the Prankster from Karadania that appeared in the classic Masters episode “Trouble’s Middle Name”. Most Trollans cover their faces as showing them is considered an intimate act similar to humans kissing. I told y’all. It’s a rabbit hole.

Now that Mondo has given us the full Orko, I’m having a hard time not seeing the titular Mac from Paul Rudd’s favorite, Mac and Me. It’s certainly a look. Just not one I needed in an Orko figure. What I do want in an Orko figure is everything else that’s included. Two different unique masked head portraits which give you either a classic Orko or a more modernized “Mondo” version. They change up the vibe considerably bringing out more of that bad ass Orko when the situation calls for it. The timed release also gets you mini figures of Orko and his girlfriend Dree Elle as well as Orko’s friend Dimar the Demon.
While he might be the smallest of the Masters, he certainly isn’t short on the details. Mondo has packed a lot of little flourishes that make this much more than just a floating hat, scarf and shirt. Little crystals and pouches. The “O” on his chest is intricately carved as opposed to just being printed or woven onto the shirt. I love storytelling and Mondo does a great job creating figures that allow you to tell stories for days on end. If you’re in the market for a killer Orko figure, get your order in by January 30, 2024.
