Chomp Into Killer Noir Crime With ‘Crocodile Black #1’ On The Wednesday Run

I know you don’t need me to tell you, but whether you like it or not, whatever you’re doing right now is more than likely a function of those pretty crappy COVID-19 years we all experienced. And it’s going to be like that for the rest of our days, probably.

We’re living differently now, it’s obvious.

But go back, for just a brief, non-triggering moment, to 2020 and all that inherent uncertainty. And then, if you’re able, recall those COVID years and some of the choices that were before you. Perhaps it was a new job or a new way or accomplishing an old job. Maybe it was a change in career possibilities. A new partner. A different way of making ends meet. Good and bad, right and wrong, those years offered us many things – and taught us a number of hard lessons.

Some thrived. Some struggled. Some were lost. All of us were irrevocably changed.

But changed into what, exactly?

That thought is the premise behind the modern-noir crime miniseries, Crocodile Black.

Written by the Eisner-nominated Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Alien, The Last God/The Fellspyre Chronicles, Superman, Incredible Hulk) and dark and richly illustrated by SOM (Brigands) and published by Boom! Studios, Crocodile Black is a five-issue criminal thriller that originated in the aftermath of our own COVID-19 experiences.

In a modern, pandemic dystopia, Danny is an ordinary lost soul – a young man unable to control the world around him, just like many of us. Working as an ordinary delivery man, making an ordinary delivery, Danny witnesses something that will alter his dull, ordinary existence.

Amidst a world of chaos and uncertainty, the crime thriller Crocodile Black asks us if we can take advantage of the times in which we live and really change ourselves – and our lot. And how disturbing might that fork in the road of life actually be?
