What happens when someone says they’ll be back…and nobody cares?
Hi, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Thanks for showing up…in tenth place.
That’s right, even with decent reviews, the former Terminator’s first staring role in a decade, The Last Stand, debut in an abysmal tenth place at the box office during its opening weekend, bringing in just $6.3 million. I don’t think Ahnold will have this one at the top of his resume going forward.
Find out how the rest of the top five turned out after the jump!
Chastain also stars in Zero Dark Thirty, which dropped to second place with a still strong $17.6 million, down just 28% from last week. Meanwhile, Silver Linings Playbook burst into the top five going into wide release, landing in third with $11 million. Gangster Squad was in fourth place with $9.1 million, while Broken City debut close behind in fifth with a lacklustre $9 million.
So, to recap, here were our predictions:
1) Mama – $20 million
2) Zero Dark Thirty – $18 million
3) The Last Stand – $15 million
4) Broken City – $12 million
5) Gangster Squad – $9 million
