Trailer Time – The Red Turtle

With the retirement of Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, the future of Studio Ghibli has been questionable with no young talent to pick up the slack. The answer may lie with this feature that debuted at the Cannes Film Festival last week. Meet me after the jump for a first look at The Red Turtle.

The film studios Wild Bunch and Studio Ghibli team up to bring audiences the animated film, The Red Turtle. Directed by Academy Award winning short film director Michael Dudok de Wit, this film with little dialogue will tell the story of a man trapped on a deserted island, whose life is changed by a turtle.

The Red Turtle is set for release in June 2016 in France, and Japan in September 2016. There is currently no word on a US release date.
