It was a simply stellar weekend for two new films at the box office, both of which performed exceptionally well. Here’s what went down:
Debuting in second place with $32.5 million is Mr. Peabody & Sherman. The film performed better than many anticipated, but it still has a ways to go to break even on its $145 million budget.
As for the rest of the top five, Non-Stop fell to number three with $15 million. The LEGO Movie was fourth with $11 million, while Son of God closed things out in fifth with $10 million.
So, to recap, here were our predictions:
1) 300: Rise Of An Empire – $40 million
2) Mr. Peabody & Sherman – $25 million
3) Non-Stop – $16 million
4) The LEGO Movie – $14 million
5) Son of God – $13.5 million
And here’s how the weekend turned out:

2) Mr. Peabody & Sherman – $32.5 million
3) Non-Stop – $15 million
4) The LEGO Movie – $11 million
5) Son of God – $10 million
