Find out how the rest of the weekend turned out after the jump!
Debuting in second place with a fantastic $30.5 million is The Best Man Holiday, the sequel to the 1999 original. BBP reader Kamili took me to task for not being familiar with the original, but it’s clear that a lot of filmgoers are. The Best Man Holiday has already made back its $17 million budget, so anything else is now just gravy.
As for the rest of the top five, Last Vegas hit third place with $8.8 million, Free Birds hits fourth place with $8.3 million, while Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa closed things out in fifth with $7.6 million.
So, to recap, here were our predictions:
1) Thor: The Dark World – $42 million
2) The Best Man Holiday – $18 million
3) Last Vegas – $8 million
4) Free Birds – $7.5 million
5) Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa – $7.2 million
And here’s how the weekend turned out:
1) Thor: The Dark World – $38.4 million
2) The Best Man Holiday – $30.5 million
3) Last Vegas – $8.8 million
4) Free Birds – $8.3 million
5) Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa – $7.6 million
