Dispatches From Atlanta: Anya and the Stars of “The Owl House“

Ever since Anya discovered The Owl House, she’s wanted to me Zeno Robinson, the voice of Hunter. We’d talked about it forever, and when we discovered that Zeno, along with the shows creator Dana Terrace, was going to be appearing at Momocon in Atlanta, Georgia, it seemed like this was the time to make dreams come true.

With Anya clad in the outfit of Hunter and me wearing my Orange Cassidy t-shirt, we made our way over to the Georgia World Congress Center on Friday morning to grab our media passes and begin the wait for the doors to officially open. If you’re a con-goer, you know there’s a lot of waiting that goes on. You wait in one line and then another and then one more. You wait for autographs, you wait for food, you wait while your kid talks to their fellow cosplayers with a smile on their face.

Line-ups with a purpose make the endeavors easier, and for Anya, waiting in line to meet her hero Zeno, was a cinch. When they finally had their time together, it was well worth both the line and the trip as a whole.

One of the generally wonderful things about meeting Zeno Robinson, along with his fellow Owl House voice actors Cissy Jones and Sarah-Nicole Robles is the time they shared with Anya, who had crafted personal letters for all of them. Unlike other cons I’ve been too, where it feels like you’re part of an assembly line of commerce and quick conversation, these talents were clearly engaged and moved to be meeting their fans. It makes a difference.

Along with the voice talents of The Owl House , Anya was also thrilled to meet Matt Braly, the creator of another of her favourite shows, Amphibia.

It was a pretty stellar first day at Momocon, and we didn’t even have a chance to walk the floor! Thats what we’ve got planned for Saturday, along with meeting Dana Terrace.
